The Season of Hosting, Toasting, and Roasting

We like to think of fall as the season for hosting, toasting, and roasting. The cool season brings in a special time of holiday celebrations, football games, and even parades. With a lot of pressure to host the perfect party, you may decide to skip out on inviting guests over to your house. We totally understand some homeowners would rather be a guest to a party than the host/hostess. But with fall offering many reasons to hold a celebration, we think that this list may change your mind. Let’s take a look!

The Season of Hosting, Toasting, and Roasting:

Hosting: Always be prepared.

- - - Create a guest’s list and send out the invitations three weeks in advance. In the fall, people’s schedules tend to fill up rather quickly; therefore, you want to give them enough notice to RSVP to your party.
    - Make a list and check it twice. Be sure to create a list of everything you need to get accomplished before your party like grocery shopping, cleaning, and putting up decorations.
    - Make sure you have enough seating for all of your guests. There is nothing more awkward than having two guests stand during the entire party because there are not enough chairs. Be sure to be prepared by taking into account the number of guests that you have invited.

Toasting: What are you celebrating?

- - - Pick a party theme for your get-together.
    - Fall Party Ideas: Harvest Party, Costume Party, Football Bash, Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving Dinner, Bonfire Party, Etc.
    - Winter Party Ideas: Cookie Decorating, Caroling, Christmas Movie Marathon, Tree Decorating, Gift Exchange, Wrapping Party, Etc.

Roasting: Decide on what you will be serving.

- - - There are several different food formats that you can have for your party. You can have a dinner party, buffet table, appetizers only, a pot-luck, etc. It will be easier to choose your food options once you have decided on your party’s theme.
    - Include a form of dessert because everyone loves having a special treat! If the weather permits, you can make s’mores and roast marshmallows at a bonfire outside.

Remember, this is not the season of “almosting.” By that we mean, do not let the opportunity to throw a fantastic party pass. You have the basic foundation on how to throw an amazing party, all you have to do is actually throw one. We wish you the best of luck and happy holidays!
