13446138_SDo you have furniture you love but want to change its looks to be cohesive with your newly painted walls or new area rug? Slipcovers are a great solution for such a design predicament.  Shabby Chic style brought slipcovers back into style. The white slipcovered furniture that makes up the basis of Shabby Chic style is great for other styles as well.  Coastal and farmhouse styles are both decorating styles that easily incorporate slipcovered furniture. White slipcovers are the hallmark of Shabby Chic style but other colored slipcovers can be just as chic.

Slipcovers are an easy way to transform the look of furniture.  The beloved sofa that is just a little too well loved but still comfortable can get a few more years of use with a slipcover.  The mismatched club chairs can become a pair with slipcovers. Dining room chairs can be dressed up or down with slipcovers.

There are many ready-made slipcovers on the market that can work well for most furniture, but nothing beats the perfect fit of a custom slipcover.  Made from cotton duck, these workhorses of Shabby Chic decorating are machine washable so they can stand up to feet and pets on the furniture.  Heavy duty cotton can also hide plaid and floral patterned upholstery underneath.

Along with sisal and choir rugs, white slipcovers and colored cotton slipcovers, can work in a beach inspired coastal décor. A gingham or striped slipcover, along with a braided rug, can fit into a farmhouse style room.

Having a custom slipcover made for your sofa or chair can prolong the life of your furniture while giving you a new look. Even if your upholstery is in great condition, using a slipcover for summer or winter will transform the look of your furniture and your living room for the season.
