Optimizing Your Loft

Levis4Floors By Levis4Floors | February 13, 2020

Lofts have a unique prestige to them as being a very elegant but edgy way of living. They offer a high rise ceiling, excellent light exposure, and architectural aesthetics. However, this architectural aesthetics can come at a cost. Lofts are typically very limited on space. Their angled ceilings give the advantages of a high rise in areas but can become challenging in the lower sections. If you are living the loft life, here are some tricks you need to be optimizing!

Facilitate Space Under Steps

Most lofts have steps leading to the upper level of the loft. Stairwells can provide a disadvantage of space. There are several ways to use this space still. Try using it as a storage area with custom racking. You can also consider this area for seating. Putting a couch under the staircase will allow you to utilize the space for seating without hitting your head. Just be careful getting on or off of your couch.

Temperature Control

Lofts can be exceptionally challenging to moderate temperatures. With ceiling heights varying throughout the space and the large open layout, it can very hard to get a steady temperature throughout your loft. One of the best ways to combat this is by facilitating the use of fans. Fans will push the air around your home, dispersing it more evenly. You should not only invest in ground fans but ceiling fans as well.

Custom Shelving

With many unique architectural angels in lofts, most traditional furniture and cabinets are not designed for your space. You will need to be very specific in finding the right dimensions and furnishings to get the most of your space. It could be more advantageous for you to have custom shelving built. This will allow your shelving to work with your home. Be creative and think outside of the box. Sliding doors, hidden storage compartments, and multi-purpose furniture will all be great investments for your loft.

Having a loft can come with its own unique sets of advantages and disadvantages. Help eliminate these drawbacks by facilitating some of these clever tricks. What are some tricks you have used in your own home? Let us know below in the comment section.
