Eating in the Kitchen

Levis4Floors By Levis4Floors | October 10, 2012

Busy lives and busy schedules mean grabbing meals on the go many days.  At least for the majority of us, sitting down at the dining room table is a rare event.  Creating a space in the kitchen for eating is a good way to bring the family together for a quick meal or a bit of time together in the morning or evening.

A table for two or four instantly turns a kitchen into an eat-in-kitchen. Finding a corner, nook, bay or extra space for a table depends on the layout of the kitchen. If space for a table isn’t an option, creating a place to eat at the counter or island with comfortable stools is another option.

Seating for the table can range from dining chairs to bistro chairs, metal garden style chairs or wicker chairs.  A banquette is a great idea for a nook or against a wall. Built in benches around a bay window are also a good choice, and one that can create extra storage.

A washable indoor/outdoor area rug can be placed under the table to center it.  This is also a great way to protect kitchen floors from the spills and mess of eating.

Eating in the kitchen is a casual way to enjoy a family meal or entertain friends.  A kitchen table can also be a great place for homework.  Gathering in the kitchen is also a great way to keep the cook company. And a happy cook is a good thing.
