Decorating the Country Kitchen

Levis4Floors By Levis4Floors | July 16, 2012

The kitchen is considered to be the heart of the home. It has been said to be the busiest and the most travelled area of the house. For people who have modern houses, they may still want to have traditional or country-styled kitchen and the good news is, it can be done. The great thing about decorating a country-styled kitchen is it can fit in with both traditional and modern homes.

Here are some tips on how to decorate a perfect country kitchen for your home.  One of the main elements used throughout its décor and styling is wood. Traditionally, pine is used, but if you want to add a touch of a contemporary look, species such as pecan and oak work as well. Wood ages with beauty and can add value to your home. Other floor types like terracotta, slate, or quarry tiles are perfect alternatives, which can provide a beautiful contrast to your other wood items in your home.

With your cabinets or an armoire, replacing the front wood panels with glass can be a great way to display.  This adds to that warm, inviting feel. You can even update the existing hardware with wrought iron handles for an extra touch of country.

Lace curtains are a wonderful solution to let the country air in. The color schemes best suited for this theme are creams and whites, along with other muted and earth tones. To add more spice to the room, plant fresh herbs on your windowsills and fill wicker baskets with logs, shoes, or other items that need to be stored.  It not only adds to the décor, but is practical for storing purposes.
